A Self-Taught Student Desires To Expand Their Knowledge
As a piano teacher, the student that regularly practices each week is my favorite student. However, I dread seeing the student that usually doesn’t practice each week. So how do we get all of our students to practice? This article will give you several tips for motivating your students to practice daily.
But then I’d come back to my main theme. What is most important about your life is not what’s going on, in other words, all the facts and circumstances. Far more important and what really defines “you” and the quality of your life is your incredible ability to see what’s going on and make choices about what things mean and how you’ll act on them.
Once you have decided on your area it needs to be whipped into study area shape. A desk is the first thing that needs to be found. It doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy, a second hand desk found at the local thrift store will do fine. If a desk is out of the question a table of some sort will work. You need to have enough room for your computer, printer, a place to write, and storage for paper, pens, and notebooks.
Second, organize. Make a schedule on which subject you will study for this day. If there are plenty of subjects to study, divide the day and make sure that you do not waste your time. When it is study time, it should be study time. Scheduling is important so you can catch up with everything that you need to study.
In this article, I continue with my idea of talking with people who have been very successful in their careers and finding out what study habit they thought was the biggest help in their student days. Here in Part 2, I speak with an older family friend (Robbie) who studied as a mature age student. What she first told me blew me away.
How well even young students do in school can effect their entire life. Students who get high grades will generally develop a good self image. So how does it work? First, you need to specify your long-term goal. After writing down your long-term goal, you can start making your action plan. This contains your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly (if applicable) study goals and the steps you will take to achieve them. The idea is to reach your ultimate goal by doing smaller and manageable steps as you go along. As the old saying goes, “How do you eat an elephant?” The answer is, “One bite at a time.” Your elephant is graduation, your short term goals are your bites.
A cynic is happiest when he’s making statements about how people are mean, how life is insufferable, and how human existence is insignificant and meaningless. A cynic is the ultimate buzz kill. If you want to be bored and unhappy, hang out with a cynic. The cynic wants you to feel empty too because he has failed to find meaning in his own life. He is jealous and resentful of people who have things that he doesn’t have and he’s too afraid of failure to try anything to acquire the things that he wants from life. Awaken your passion for life by avoiding such bitter people. Find friends who are enthusiastic and positive about what the future holds. One way to find joy is to be in the company of people who have already found it.
Those things include: exhausting all other methods of paying for school, doing research on several student loans, getting a cosigner, calculating how much money you need to pay for school and only borrowing what is needed.
When chasing your education, keep in mind that, although student loans are available to assist with payments and costs associated with school, they add up in a hurry. It doesn’t take long before one finds that they are thousands of dollars in debt. Once there is more than one loan out, find out about student loans consolidation, so that everything can be combined. This will make it much easier to pay, will cost less in the long run and will provide the student with a little peace of mind.
